WWE Main Event Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Analysis from July 17

The WWE is on fire right now.?

After putting on a thrilling, albeit slightly up-and-down Money in the Bank pay-per-view, the company followed it up with one of the most entertaining installments of Raw this year.

Would the WWE be able to keep up that momentum during this week's Main Event, which is usually impressive in terms of pure wrestling action?

Well, with Christian, Fandango and the Wyatt family?a major reason why Raw was so good a few nights ago?all in attendance, chances were good of that happening.?

Let's take a look all of the action.?

?

Christian defeats Fandango

The first match of Main Event is almost always terrific, and although this one didn't quite last as long as others in the same spot, it was still solid.?

After some back-and-forth action that featured offense from each side and good crowd involvement, Christian was able to roll up Fandango for the win. It received some positive reactions:

Still, some fans weren't completely happy with the match overall: Moreover, this marks the second loss of the week already for Fandango, which is a little disappointing.?

How do you feel about Fandango?

How do you feel about Fandango?

  • Love everything about him

  • Great wrestler, bad character

  • Bad wrestler, great character

  • Hate everything about him

Many have been gun-shy on the polarizing character, but I gained new respect for him when he pulled off the sunset flip power bomb off the top of the ladder at Money in the Bank. It was arguably the most underrated moment of the PPV, and it proved he has some talent inside the ring.?

When he got a match with Randy Orton on Raw, it was encouraging. He didn't win, but it began to look like the company was going to concentrate on his wrestling more than his dancing and supposedly comedic side.?

But a loss to Christian, who has lacked direction since his return, is slightly concerning.

It will be interesting to see where each wrestler goes from here.?

?

Layla and Natalya defeat Alicia Fox and Aksana

This match didn't get a ton of time, but some fans came away impressed:

Both Layla and Natalya are former Divas champions. Will either of them be the next to feud with A.J. Lee for the belt?

?

Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater (with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) is interrupted by the Wyatt Family

Man, these guys are great.?

No, not Justin Gabriel or 3MB. The Wyatt family.?

After attacking Kane during its debut just before Money in the Bank, the trio returned to Raw earlier this week?and didn't disappoint. Bray Wyatt gave a spectacular promo, and it was met mostly with praise.?

This one was no different:

There's not much to dislike about the Wyatt family. Bray Wyatt is gold on the microphone (and if you?really?listen to what he's saying, he gets even better), the characters are unique, and crowds are giving them hot receptions.?

And if this leads to a brainwashed Kane (Wyatt once again told The Big Red Machine to "follow the buzzards") who destroys people in vintage style, then it will get even better.?

Consider me on board.?
