Reflecting on Rileyville | tHis family tree | generational transformation

As we were headed home from Virginia, I was reminded of something someone told me Easter Sunday at the church service. They had a friend tell them that these mountains in Virginia were just ?hills? compared to the mountains in other places. Well, maybe that is why I like it so much. The ?hills? aren?t so intimidating and just roll on for miles. Makes me look forward to Heaven. I am not in any rush to get there, but I do think that we as Christians need to think on it pretty regular. It may help us to count our days and be grateful for all that we have.

We also learned that Monday morning 31 men showed up at the 6am prayer meeting for a time of seeking the Lord!!!? That didn?t count Keith or Tom (the lead revivalist for the Summit). We are very excited for what God did and will continue to do in the lives of the people there at Rileyville Baptist.

After a pretty intense time of meetings for 11 days, our family was worn out. We prayed and talked about it, and decided to stay in VA for a few more days. Thursday was a day of rest for us. Friday we headed to the famous Luray Caverns. It was amazing to know that we were walking into the Earth and surrounded by unbelievable creations that God knew long ago we would enjoy.? That night the children played ball in one of the beautiful open fields on the Winter?s land, along with both of the pastor?s children and our neighbor?s children.

I noticed that evening that our little Mercy felt warm, and sure enough, she had a low grade temperature. I knew it would be a miracle if we made it through this trip without catching something. So, the next morning we stayed home while Keith took the five oldest to help milk a cow! They all layered up, because it was quite cold that morning. We did not pack for very cold weather. Milah, the moo cow was a very well-behaved lady as she let all the children milk her. It was too funny to hear the kids describe what it felt like. I asked them if they thought that it might be something they could do one day. All of the them said, ?Yes!?

Over the course of a couple of weeks we were blessed to get about 6 or so gallons of milk from the precious family who owned Milah. They also gave some cream and butter. I can honestly say that it is the best milk we have ever tasted! Morgan describes it as drinking vanilla ice cream. It isn?t near that sweet, but oh so creamy. Even with the cream skimmed off, it has such a rich consistency. The butter is a yellowish-orange color from all the lush green grass that she eats on through the day.

Mercy continued to run a fever and also began to have a runny nose, but we took off to the Shenandoah River anyway. It was a bright and sunny afternoon. I knew I would stay with her, as she was still in good spirits, while some of the others rafted down the river. After watching a short video and putting on life vests, we headed down to where they would let the raft out onto the river. Keith, Morgan, Mallory, Joshua, and Stephen hopped in the raft with their oars and off they went. The rest of us drove on down to where they would stop and waited for their arrival. 2 hours later we saw them headed our way. All safe and sound?. and dry!

Afterwards, we had dinner with another family in the mountains near the river. An amazing man with great talent bought some property and from what I hear, he cut the trees down and made them into logs and practically built the house himself along with his sweet wife. It was gorgeous.

On Sunday we were able to celebrate Easter with the people of Rileyville Baptist. Although we missed our church service, we were able to watch most of it online before leaving the house.

That afternoon we had a cookout and an egg hunt at our temporary neighbor?s house. We can?t begin to tell you how thankful we are for their hospitality. The Winter?s (the couple whose house we stayed in) offered for us to stay longer. They were staying with their daughter, Pam, who lived next door.? It is awesome to experience God?s people in other places and to see Him at work. What a privilege.

This is a rather long post, but we had a lot of catching up to do. We thank everyone for all the prayers. God did incredible things in the lives of individuals and families. To be a part of that was humbling.

Thankful for new friends and family in Christ,

Nichole
