Third state bars access to staff Facebook passwords ? Business ...

California last month became the third state to enact a law that prohibits employers from asking applicants or employees for their passwords to social media sites. Illinois and Mary??land had passed similar laws earlier this year.

The Cali??for??nia bill also bars employers from retaliating against people for not complying with employers? password requests. Face??book says it has seen a ?distressing increase? in reports of employers seeking to gain access to employees? profiles.
